Bonapace Childbirth Training Program

Women who have taken the Bonapace Method classes experience, in 99% of cases, 45% less pain than those having followed traditional methods.
Bonapace Childbirth Training Program
The Bonapace Childbirth Program was created by Julie Bonapace and has been taught all over the world since 1989. This childbirth program seeks to respond to the needs of parents to have practical tools to prepare for childbirth and manage pain in secure conditions. In order to do this, the program allows couples to develop physiological and psychological techniques enabling them to better manage pain during labor with relaxation, visualisation, massages, exercises, breathing, calming techniques, and positions.

These days, 94.6% of women have their partners by their sides during labor and delivery and the Bonapace Program equips fathers to better support their partner. The presence of quality companionship increases the woman’s satisfaction in regards to childbirth, prevents or delays the use of analgesics to lessen pain and reduces the likelihood of diverse interventions (anesthesia, caesareans, vacuum, forceps, induction, etc.). Among other things, the companionship of the partner can also help reduce the duration of labor, promote the woman’s hormonal cocktail, lower the woman’s anxiety and lessen the presence of depressive symptoms after childbirth.

The goal of the program is to increase the skills and abilities of couples in dealing with pregnancy and childbirth; to increase parent’s effectiveness to manage the stress and pain of childbirth and facilitate the integration of the partner.

In order to achieve this goal, with the support of the partner, the Bonapace Program will allow you to learn three non-pharmacological approaches to pain management:

  • Non-painful massages (Melzack and Wall’s Gate Control Theory, 1965): non painful stimulations of the painful zone, practiced between contractions.
  • Painful massages (Dr LeBars’ Diffuse Noxious Inhibitory Control (DNIC) mechanism, 1979): stimulation of acupressure points or reflex zones in order to release endorphins.
  • Pain modulation using higher centers of the brain: Thought deviation techniques such as: breathing, relaxation, visualisation, and cognitive restructuring.
  • And more…

The Bonapace Childbirth Program is a prenatal course that enables you to better prepare for pregnancy and childbirth. Women who have followed the Bonapace Program experience in 99% of the cases, 45% less pain than those having followed traditional methods.

The Bonapace Program incorporates both a natural approach that respects the physiology of birth and a scientific approach founded on studies on childbirth and pain management. The course is complete and comprehensive and gives you the necessary tools for a peaceful, confident, and stress-free birthing experience. Allow yourself the opportunity to be informed and prepared for this memorable moment in your life. Whether it be for a first, second or third birth, the Bonapace Program can be an asset to you and your partner.
