Specializations
In order to offer a complete service, I am a co-owner and a member of a multidisciplinary clinic, the Clinique Inter-Santé Rive-Sud in Saint-Lambert and I was also a member of a multidisciplinary team (specialist, physiotherapists, osteopaths, acupuncturist, etc.) in Brossard at the Clinique Pelvi-Santé for 8 years. I believe in teamwork in order to offer you the best possible services. Your well-being is my priority above all.

Throughout the years, I have developed special interests for certain issues and I am now specialized in the following fields:

Perinatology
I am interested in the impact of perinatology on women, men and couples. The arrival of a child and everything surrounding it (fertility, pregnancy, birth, transition from couple to family, etc.) is a major event in the life of an individual and a couple, and can sometimes involve certain difficulties.

Sexoperinatology is interested in the intimacy of the parental couple and their sexuality during the perinatal period which begins with the decision to have a child and ends when the child is 2 years old. It is a period which involves serious changes for the couple and it is also a moment of great stress for the partner. Happiness and marital satisfaction are on the decline because of the tensions that occur. In fact, in Quebec, the rate of separation and divorce is higher than 50% (38% in Canada as a whole) and a large portion of these separations occur in couples with young children.

Parenthood can be a beautiful adventure, despite these stress factors. So as to better prepare or adapt to this transition, couples can benefit from preventative therapy.

I also offer prenatal classes to help couples prepare for childbirth.

Vulvovaginal pain and disorders
Vulvovaginal pain and disorders are still unknown to some and can often take a long time to diagnose, but they are more common then you may think. In fact, one out of every five women suffers with dyspareunia (pain during intercourse) and provoked vestibulodynia (pain in the vulvar vestibule during penetration) has a prevalence of 12% of the general population and is the most frequent cause of dyspareunia in pre-menopausal women.

Amongst others, here are a few examples of diagnoses that can cause pelvic, vulvar or vaginal pain: endometriosis, vaginismus, dyspareunia, vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, clitorodynia, lichen sclerosus, simplex or planus, interstitial cystitis, etc.

Despite the fact that pain is a physical phenomenon that is experienced in the body, therapy can help address the emotional, cognitive, behavioural, interpersonal and corporeal factors that can exacerbate and maintain it.

Erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation
According to recent studies, erectile dysfunction is present in 6.5% of men aged 30-39, in 39% of men in their forties, and 67% of men after the age of 70. Premature ejaculation, for its part, is present in 20 to 30% of men of all ages.

Several behavioural, cognitive, emotional or interpersonal factors can exacerbate or cause these problems. Also, the presence of an erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation can cause great suffering in men and in their relationships. They can affect self-esteem, cause performance anxiety or depression, and lower desire and sexual satisfaction.

Erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation are the two most common sexual problems seen in men seeking sex therapy. There’s no shame in getting support and professional help. These are common difficulties that can be treated with brief therapy.
Infidelity and hypoactive desire
Other than communication problems, which are the basis of a lot of couple’s problems, low desire and infidelity are the two most common reasons client’s consult in couple’s therapy:

    • Infidelity in men, women and couples
Between 20-30% of men and 15-20% of women commit adultery in a given time of their lives. Among these couples, one out of two couples chooses to stay together after infidelity. The process of healing, reconciliation and recovery of trust is difficult, and it can be beneficial to seek outside help. Couple’s therapy can help you overcome this crisis period and restore trust and well-being in your relationship.

    • Absence or lowered desire/libido in women, men and couples
Did you know that 43% of women between the ages of 18 and 59 years report having a sexual dysfunction related to desire or arousal, including 33.4% having lowered or absence of sexual desire? What’s more, men can also suffer from lack of desire. In fact, in a survey done with 13 882 women and 13 618 men aged between 40 and 80 years from 29 different countries (Global Study of Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors, 2005), they discovered that 26-43% of women and 13-28% of men reported having lowered sexual desire.

Maintaining loving feelings and sexual desire in an intimate relationship; That is a couple’s biggest challenge! The three pillars of an intimate relationship are love, sexuality and commitment. This said, when a couple experiences a sexual problem, it can bring about psychological distress for the individuals and harm the relationship. Male hypoactive sexual desire disorder or women sexual interest/arousal disorder is a multifactor problem and therapy can help you better understand the causes and find adequate solutions to begin the seduction process again and revive your couple’s sexuality.
